Young Driver Auto Insurance Tips

When Kids Drive…

I guess that time when our kids learn to drive is a mixed experience for every parent. We are proud to see that our children are becoming more independent, and maybe we are relieved because they can start to provide for their own transportation some of the time. On the other hand, it can be a big area of concern too. We want them to be safe, and we know that kids tend to be more impulsive. Of course, they are just starting to drive, so they will not be as experienced as we are at avoiding road hazards or other unsafe drivers. They will not think ahead like we do, so we worry that they will not be able to predict problems on the road.

Insurance Companies and Student Drivers

Of course, insurance companies think about all of things that parents think about when it comes to younger drivers. Since the teen or young adult will not have had time to establish their own driving history, they must all be lumped in with other people their age. If statistics show that teens and young adults, as a group, are responsible for more claims than 50 year old drivers, auto insurers will want to charge them more for coverage.

So many parents who have good driving histories will be shocked when they get the first bill after they cover their student driver. Sometimes rates can double or triple for the family. But they can take some steps to find affordable insurance for themselves, and for their kids.

Good Student Discounts

Many auto insurers have found that students with decent grades also tend to be more responsible in all areas of their lives. They will offer discounts for students who keep up a B average on their report cards. So a good report card from their teachers can offset an individual students lack of a driving history.

Safe Car Discounts

Some cars are just cheaper to insure. If young Sammy or Suzy drives a sedate family car, they are certain to have better rates than if they are handed a high power sports car for their 16th birthday. It would be prudent, for many reasons, to let the student drive a safer car.

Safety features and anti-theft devices also matter. If any features of a car help reduce the chance of an insurance claim, an insurer will probably offer a discount for that feature. Many newer cars already come equipped with features that make them safer, and less likely to be stolen. It may also be worth the money to improve an older car. It will be safer, less likely to get stolen, and cheaper to insure!

Auto Safety Classes

Insurers believe that drivers education and drivers safety classes help prevent accidents. While a student may lack experience, a class can help make up for some of that. Experienced drivers can help pass on some of their knowledge about safe driving to young drivers. It is almost always worth the time and money to take a drivers safety class. Your young driver will be less likely to have a car accident, and they will also get cheaper auto insurance rates!

Tax Quotes and Jokes for Tax Season

January 22, 2012 No comments »

Like death, paying taxes is inevitable. In the case of most Americans, tax season is just around the corner. If only paying taxes was so easy.

As you begin pulling out those receipts, the eraser and reading plain English tax instructions that Einstein couldn’t figure out, you’re going to need a good laugh. Here you go:

1. I am proud to be paying taxes in the United States. The only thing is – I could be just as proud for half the money.

2. People who complain about taxes can be divided into two classes: men and women.

3. Like mothers, taxes are often misunderstood, but seldom forgotten.

4. The best measure of a man’s honesty isn’t his income tax return. It’s the zero adjust on his bathroom scale.

5. Next to being shot at and missed, nothing is really quite as satisfying as an income tax refund.

6. A tax loophole is something that benefits the other guy. If it benefits you, it is tax reform.

7. Few of us ever test our powers of deduction, except when filling out an income tax form.

8. What’s the difference between a mosquito and an IRS agent? One is a bloodsucking parasite, the other is an insect.

9. It would be nice if we could all pay our taxes with a smile, but normally cash is required.

10. The government deficit is the difference between the amounts of money the government spends and the amount it has the nerve to collect.

11. Taxes: Of life’s two certainties, the only one for which you can get an automatic extension

12. What Mae West said about sex is true about taxes. All tax cuts are good tax cuts; even bad tax cuts are good tax cuts,

13. The federal income tax system is a disgrace to the human race. – Jimmy Carter

If nothing else, it is good to know that a former President of the United States feels the same way about taxes as you. If only someone would agree to a flat tax, millions of Americans could dispense with the aggravation and stress of filing taxes each year.

Cash Advance: Pros and Cons

January 19, 2012 No comments »

Cash advances are short-term loans that are taken in case of emergencies when the individual depends on their paycheck to pay their bills. An extreme medical emergency or a credit card bill or other kinds of unexpected expenses might result in an individual opting for a cash advance.

Though cash advances are made against a credit card or paycheck, the interest on this loan is charged from the day the advance is taken. Also, since this kind of loan is taken only in case of emergencies, the interest rates can be very high. Also, even if the credit is extended when the individual cannot repay the loan by the specified time, the increase in the interest rates can make the interest on the amount then be sky-high when compared to the interest on regular loans.

Since these are short-term loans, the amount us usually not very high. Most of this cash advances are not more than $500 to $1000 because the amount needs to be repaid from the next paycheck or by next credit card installment. The borrower needs to provide the company with a post-dated check containing enough amount of money to cover both the principle and the interest.

Cash advance companies provide a variety of options to avoid long lines at their stores. Individuals can apply online for a cash advance if they can provide the requisite details online and the money would be deposited into the account through electronic transfer once the details are verified, and the whole process shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes. The lender can be given the option of withdrawing the money directly from the borrower’s checking account on the payday.

Cash advances are also made at some banks, as well as at stores specialized in the money lending business. Banks provide the option of an automatic electronic paycheck deposit and so make the process a lot easier.

It is very important to remember that a cash advance is a form of loan with very high interest rates and it is not advised to apply for cash advances very often. It is better to consider other options before opting for this kind of loan as the interest rates can prove to be very high when the individual is unable to repay the money and chooses to rollover to the next month.

Auto Insurance What You Should Know

Colorado auto insurance companies seem to be a dime a dozen nowadays. However when it comes to finding good insurance you will soon find out that there are not many out there. Now even though having insurance may not be compulsory where you live but it is always good to be covered by some sort of insurance. This is especially true if you drive around in a new car.

A new car can attract a lot of attention even the attention of car thieves. People who are not covered by good auto insurance will often find the loss of a car huge. The loss can be an accident or it can even be a theft but if you are not covered the loss is going to come out of your own pocket. With an insurance you do not have to worry about covering the loss from your own pocket.

When looking for auto insurance companies there are a few things you need to keep in mind. The first and probably the most important thing you should look at is the customer service of the company. An auto insurance company with bad customer service should never be considered even if they are offering the cheapest premiums in town.

The second most important thing which should be considered is the type of coverage they are offering. Many time so called cheap auto insurance policies will cover things which you will hardly ever need. This is why it is always a good idea to read though the policy to find out what is being covered. If you see that things that do not concern you are being covered then the policy is useless.

Many insurance companies offer full coverage policies which are great. However you also need to find out what the insurance company defines as full coverage. Many times insurance companies may exclude important coverage from their full coverage policy and many have them there as separate add-ons. This is of course added expense if you add them which may at times be more expensive than other polices out there.

Many insurance companies may turn down your request for auto insurance if you have a bad driving history. This can often be remedied because there are quite a few insurance companies online that offer some great insurance policies to people with bad driving histories. However you should be aware of the fact that these are often very expensive.

Visiting the Miami attractions

Article by James Crave

When you are vacationing in southern Florida there are many Miami attractions for you to see. My family and I are from Fayetteville, North Carolina. We try to vacation in Miami beach as often as possible. And every time we travel down there we find more and more things to do and places to see. It seems like everytime we go down there we have a new experience. The last time we went down there we stayed at the world famous the Delano Hotel. The Delano in itself is a famous Miami attraction.

This is an upscale resort that was first built in 1947. The building is on 16th Street and Collins Avenue and it is one of the tallest building in the South Beach area. The hotel has a whimsical Art Deco style and the service there is impeccable. The whole family and I like to rent Segways when we are in Miami Beach visiting all the Miami Attractions, because they are a very easy and efficient way to get around and they are really fun to boot.

When we are riding on the Segways another internationally famous Miami attractions that we like to visit is the Lincoln Road Mall. Lincoln Road mall is a pedestrian road that is approximately 8 blocks long. Is one of the nation’s first pedestrian only malls. The entire strip is just filled with shopping boutiques, stores, restaurants, and theaters. There is always something for every member of our family to enjoy when we go on to Lincoln Road.

There are always street performers out there entertaining the tourists and the people watching is just amazing. One of the first Miami attractions that my wife and I ever brought our children to was the Miami Seaquarium. This is a spectacular marine animal themed park that is just a 10 minute drive by car from South Beach. This is the park where the original television show Flipper was filmed. My wife and I were big fans of the show when we were younger. The park still does a dolphin show themed after the television series. Also at the park they have a presentation called the Shark Channel.

This is a huge aquarium where you can watch divers hand feed a multiple variety of different sharks. You have a flat pool where you can personally hand feed stingrays. There is a seal and sea lion show which is very entertaining and comical. The feature act of the park is a killer whale show that is performed by a killer whale named Lolita. Another of the Miami attractions I recommend you see on your visit to southern Florida it is the Everglades tour. There are many companies on the beach that will gladly take you out to the Everglades with their tour buses.

It takes about 40 minutes by us from South Beach but it is well worth the trip. When you arrive at one of the Everglades Tourist venues you will get to see an animal show. These shows are great. They usually show off the animals that live in the Everglades and you might even get to see a man wrestle an alligator. The highlights of these Miami attractions are easily when you get to take an airboat ride out into the actual Everglades. You will get to see many alligators in their natural habitat as well as other species indigenous to the Everglades. It is a very unique experience.

As you can see there are many Miami attractions as the Everglades tours to see on your visit to South Beach. The ones in this article are just the tip of the iceberg. You will be able to find many many more on your own. Not only that but you will have a good time finding them.
