Credit Card Features
Most of us receive credit card offers in the mail with annoying frequency. When you open one up, there are all sorts of great offers in bold print, hoping to grab your attention and get you signing on the dotted line. The problem is, it all looks so good on paper, but the fine print is the part you really should be reading. That’s where the bits that will come back and bite you later on are hidden. You need to look at ALL the features, fees and charges involved, and then, based on your own usage, decide which card is most appropriate for you. Here are some of the things to consider.
Fees and Charges
The saying “there’s no such thing as a free lunch” is particularly true when it comes to credit cards. So work out exactly what fees you’re likely to be paying, and if it’s possible to avoid them. For example, you may avoid paying interest if you pay the balance off in full each month.
The Annual Fee
When the credit card companies realised that some people really could be disciplined and pay off their balance each month, they discovered they didn’t make any money. So in came the annual fee – basically to make sure you pay them something for the use of their card. The good news is that with the credit card market being so competitive, you can often negotiate to have this fee removed. It’s worth a try!
Cash Advance Fee
Nearly every credit card company will charge you a cash advance fee. Be warned – some of them charge some very hefty cash advance fees. So make sure you’re aware of what the charges are if you expect to use this facility more than once or twice. Quite often the interest rate is higher for cash advances, and sometimes your grace period is waived on cash advances, meaning you pay interest from day one.
If you’re taking up an offer to transfer the balance of an existing credit card to your new card, make sure you read the fine print. Some credit companies treat the transfer as a cash advance, and if they charge you a fee based on a percentage of the advance amount and you transfer a large balance – ouch! And again, check what interest rate they’ll charge you. Sometimes the fees and charges on a balance transfer can make it worse than leaving the balance on your existing card.
Other Fees
Credit companies are very good at coming up with fees for almost everything, so check the fine print and make sure you know what they are. Some things to look out for include over-the-limit fees, late-payment fees, return-item fees and set-up fees. Mostly these can be avoided by careful management, but it’s still handy to be prepared if you ever get charged one.
Rewards
A lot of card companies are now offering reward programs in the hope of keeping your business. Quite often you don’t have to do anything other than use the card whenever you purchase something – points are awarded based on the amount of money that gets charged to your card each month. It’s almost never a good idea to choose a card based on the rewards program. Most of the time you have to spend a very large amount on your card to get any really decent reward, and the last thing you need is to start paying huge interest bills as a consequence of the extra spending.
Incentives
Some credit companies have realised that reward programs are losing favor, and have started to offer other types of incentives. These can include rebates on purchases, extended warranties, or frequent flyer miles. Depending on your personal circumstances, some of these incentives can end up being quite valuable, so it’s worth checking out the details. But again, don’t overspend in the hope of getting a reward, because you almost never win in that scenario.
With any credit card, take the time to understand all the details of the card, not just one feature, and then think about whether the card really suits your own personal usage style. There’s no value to be gained in having features available that you’ll never use, or in choosing a card that costs you more because of the way you use it. Special offers are only special if they help you, not make your situation worse.

Lose Fat not Weight
July 2nd, 2010
Most people don’t realize that losing weight is not the same as losing fat. Often people who lose weight actually lose little fat. That’s because the weight they lost was actual water weight or muscle loss.
If you’re looking to lose a few pounds you should make it a point to try to lose fat not weight. This means that you need to stop worrying that your success lies holey in what the scale says. The truth is that muscle weighs more then fat. If you build muscle while losing fat you may not lose much weight but you are getting in shape and looking slimmer.
In general there are three basic ways in which you can lose weight. You can diet, watching what you eat with no exercise. You can exercise without changing your eating habits. You can change the way you eat and start exercising. Of course the last one is the best option if you want real results. Although you can certainly lose weight by changing your diet you will likely lose muscle if you don’t include exercise.
When you make sure to include an exercise routine in your quest to lose fat you will benefit far more. Besides the fact that you will lose fat not just weight with exercise there are also other benefits. You will increase you metabolism and build muscle. The more muscle you have the more calories you will burn.
It is a good idea to do some kind of cardio exercise at least three times a week. It’s even better to get in thirty minutes everyday. You can choose to do this by jogging around your neighborhood or by using exercise equipment.
There are studies that show that you burn more calories when you exercise moderately everyday compared with exercising intensively three times a week. If you’re looking to work off a significant amount of fat working out every day may be a better option.
Cardio exercise isn’t enough to make sure that you lose fat not just weight. You will also need to incorporate resistance training with weights two to three times a week. If you’re a gym member you have access to all sorts of resistance equipment. If not just pick up a few cheap dumbbells.
Incorporating both cardio and resistance training to your workout program will help you to lose fat not weight. You will burn more calories and lose less muscle. If you add a healthy diet plan in the mix you will lose even more fat and become healthier.
Earning Money at Home – Legit Online Jobs Review
June 22nd, 2010
How I first Heard about It
I was actually recently told about Legit Online Jobs by a friend who is using the program. As I was recently made redundant and now looking into all sorts of online money making methods whilst looking for a new job, I figured why not write a review on it.
First Impressions
So basically this website claims to be a work at home site where you work in conjunction with companies of your choice, and they claim to have to have over 10,000 companies to choose from. They do discretely say they are an adwords program and I quickly found this to be true. They are right in saying that online advertising is doing well at the moment so this is definitely a great market to go into right now, and will most likely remain so in the future.
What to Expect
Let me start by saying this won’t give an immediate income but instead it will work more like a business where if you work hard and put many hours into it, your hard work will be paid off. From the nature of how it works you could see yourself earning well above average in the future depending on how well you perform. It’s one of those things where a beginner can easily start out but to make it big you will need experience and hard-work to be put into your business in order to make it successful, as is the case with anything in life. This has the potential to work well provided you are consistent in the work you put in. Experience will come naturally once you start working so there isn’t really any reason to fail unless you are lazy.
Some of the information contained through Legit Online Jobs can be found yourself if you search the internet for long enough. However, as is the case with the internet it will take a while to find anything remotely useful. In my case it took me years of prior research before I found some of the information and even then it was just tips I happened to have come across in the past. This site would work great for anyone with little or no experience but you will probably obviously already know some of the information if you have a marketing degree or something similar. Saying that, most of the information is legit and from my experience could never really be found out through research. For that reason it is of course far easier just to buy the program.
Future Potential
From past experience I can already tell that their method does work, however I will say once again as outlined above, big earnings will only be made through consistency and dedication. Put simply, they basically teach you how to use adwords effectively and how to make money from it. You wouldn’t be able to quit your day job within the first week but depending on your efforts it is definitely realistic to say you could make a decent living within a few months. It is important not to expect to become rich overnight (though you could literally earn a bit overnight depending on your luck).
So What Do I think?
The most obvious part of the program I like so far is that it will teach you how to create your own online business from scratch. This is useful for whatever you happen to do in the future and whatever situation you may find yourself in, you can always profit from an online business. It is also important to mention that you will start small and grow big in time, just like any other business out there.
You can find the full length and updated version of the article here. I will keep you updated on my progress.
